More and more businesses and industries are embracing technology and digital transformation. At the same time, there is a serious push for creating tech and deep tech startups. This is creating an unprecedented demand for tech workers. The Silicon Roundabout Academy is our response to this rising demand for a future-proof workforce.

Silicon Roundabout is working with the UK Government as an official gateway for its Kickstart Scheme. The programme’s objective is to train junior tech and startup enthusiasts between the age of 18-24 who seek to start a career at technology companies. Silicon Roundabout Academy focuses on training in the areas relevant to startup teams. We are driven by our decade-long experience working with innovative companies in tech and related fields. All our trainees can work remote.

As part of the programme, we offer startups a diverse pool of junior staff. They can augment your team with the tech savvy you need whilst concurrently gaining work experience. This way we also seek to help increase diversity in tech and a provide inroads into the industry for young people from a broad range of backgrounds.

Startups that qualify will receive funding to hire candidates graduating from our training bootcamp. They will need to remunerate the junior staff from their payroll. They will, of course, get reimbursed within one month by the government. If this is an issue, Silicon Roundabout can cover this for qualifying startups through a bespoke financing system. Terms and conditions will apply.

Funding for successful startup applicants will cover the entire cost of a placement for the duration of 6 months.

  • 4 weeks of intensive training with us at the start of the programme.
  • Employability and soft skills support, mentoring, and training provided by us.
  • National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week. Companies can offer more hours and/or a higher wage, if they wish, at their own cost.

At the end of the placement, startups will have the opportunity, but not the obligation, to offer the candidate a job in their company.
